"Brilliant home for our baby"

The positive ways Lettings First can help homeless families has been in the housing careers section of the Evening Standard.
"A unique partnership between Lambeth Council and local landlords is providing decent accommodation – and slashing the annual housing bill by more than £1 million," wrote Liz Bestic in the Standard on 26 January 2004.
"Innovative schemes such as Lettings First are likely to be become more commonplace," Liz forecast, in an article detailing how the scheme had helped a homeless couple find decent accommodation just in time for the birth of their first child.
The article quoted manager Kathy Peacock explaining the significant benefits to Lambeth Council.
"Over the next two years, we estimate the cost of housing families in B&B accommodation would have been more than £3.7 million. However, introducing this package of measures, which encourages private landlords to free up their properties for people classed as homeless, will make net savings of £1.4 million," Kathy pointed out.
